Construct the perpendicular bisector of a segment by intersecting two congruent circles centered at the two endpoints.
- Choose the fixed circle tool.
- Click on
point A, then move the mouse and click to create a circle with center A
(it’s not necessary to recreate the red circle – just make sure that the circle is large enough). When
the “Edit Circle” dialog box opens, you may simply close it.
- Create a circle with center B in the same way. You want this circle to
have the same radius as the first circle. So when the “Edit
Circle” dialog opens, click the “Set Size…” button at the bottom. Then
click on the first circle.
- Using the Line tool, connect the two intersections
Note
that when you right click on the circle with center B, the
“Radius” setting lists the name of the circle with center A.
