Now we investigate the reflections of a point in two intersecting lines

Reflect the point at g and then at h.

  • Right click anywhere in the construction window and select the macro "Reflect a point in a line".
  • Click on line g, then on point P. This creates P*, which is the reflection of point P in line g.
  • In order to apply the macro a second time, it is not necessary to right click and select the macro again. Simply click on h and then P* to reflect point P* in line h.
  • A "Well done" screen should appear.

Think about these questions:

  • The three points P, P*, and P** all lie on a circle. What is the center of this circle, and why?
  • What happens to P** when P is moved on the circle? Why?
