We begin by using only the most basic tools--we'll introduce the more complicated tools as we go along. In this construction, you are only given two tools: ruler and compass. C.a.R. actually has more than one compass tool -- this one is the simplest (we'll show you the more sophisticated compass later).

 

Construct the midpoint of segment  AB. If you do the construction correctly, the "Well done!" dialog box will appear.

He'res a hint: Recall that the perpendicular bisector of segment AB is the line of all points that are equally distant to A and to B.

Note:  If you want to select the intersection of two lines or circles, make sure that the intersection appears as a yellow dot before you click:

  

This is C.a.R.'s way of letting you know that it understands that you want the intersection.

Constructing a midpoint like this is little complicated, but there's an easier way: just use the midpoint tool  in C.a.R. The icon looks like this:
