In this assignment, you are to construct a triangle that is similar to a given triangle. Two triangles are similar if they have the same angles.

Construct a triangle A*B*C*, similar to ABC as follows.

  • First we measure the angles. Select the Angle tool. Click on BAC and ABC.
  • To see the sizes of each angle:
    • Right click on the angle to open the "Edit Angle" dialog box.
    • Click on the "show object values" icon to enable the size display.
  • Now we copy the angles. Select the "Angle with fixed size" tool . Click on B*, A* and then somewhere close to C*.  The "Edit Angle" dialog box will open.
  • Click the "Set size" button (bottom left of the dialog box). The dialog box closes. Then click on the angle at A. This will set the angle <B*A*C* to have the same size as the angle at A.
  • Copy the angle at B to B* in the same way.
  • Create the intersection C*. "Well done!" appears.

This finishes our tutorial on angles!
